Information
CALENDAR | The Brookfield Central Girls Basketball Club conducts tryouts in the Fall. Players are selected and placed onto teams at that time. Practice is usually scheduled twice during the week. Tournaments are generally played on weekends. The regular season for the program ends mid-March. Teams reconvene in early June and play in a summer league, one evening per week. No practices or tournaments are planned in the summer but there are optional camps and trainings.
EVALUATIONS | Evaluations are conducted in the Fall by grade level. Players register before participating. Players wear a shirt with a number during evaluations for identification by our coaches and evaluators. Coaches and evaluators rate each player during a series of drills and game situations. During these drills and games, players are assessed on their work ethic, coach-ability, listening, communication on the court with other players, offensive skills, defensive skills, competitiveness (effort), and other traits identified by our coaching staff and evaluators in alignment with the Varsity program. After evaluations, this website will show all team assignments.
REGISTRATION and FEES | A parent/guardian must complete a waiver of liability and pay fees before a player is allowed to practice. Included on the registration form is a request for information about the player’s health insurance along with the new state mandatory concussion information. Players must agree and sign a Player Code of Conduct prior to practicing with their team. At the team registration meeting, which usually happens a few nights after the last evaluation, fees are due and players will be measured for their uniforms.
PRACTICES | Practices will be determined by late September. Usually, a team will practice twice per week for 90 minutes. If a player cannot attend practice for any reason, she must contact the coach before the practice. Coaches will not punish players for missing practice, but playing time may diminish if a player is not ready to play.
GAMES and TOURNAMENTS | Coaches and Team Managers are provided league schedules as soon as they become available. Coaches will also select tournaments to participate in. The coach will communicate this schedule to his/her team, normally through the team manager. The teams usually play two league games and tournaments on the weekends. A team may play up to three or four games per on a weekend tournament. The club works to reduce league game conflicts with tournaments when preparing the year’s schedule in September. If a conflict occurs during the season, the coach has the authority and responsibility to make necessary arrangements to eliminate the conflict. Note: Tournaments are conducted in many areas of Southeastern & Central Wisconsin as well as Northern Illinois.
UNIFORMS | In addition to the player’s registration fee, the player needs to purchase a uniform (Reversible Jersey and Short). Uniform sizes are available at team registration. A uniform should last at least two seasons.
FEES | Brookfield Central Girls Basketball Club requires each participant to pay a fee. A player will not receive a new uniform nor be allowed to practice or play in a game without receipt of this fee. This fee covers: gym rentals, league fee, tournaments fees, equipment purchase, and club administration costs.
PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT | Parents are a part of the team and important role models.
