Get to know Coach! Q&A WITH VARSITY HEAD COACH SEAN AUGUSTYN
Sean Augustyn, Varsity Head Coach
Q. What got you into coaching? A. After landing my first teaching job in the same district as my wife she also was
hired as the varsity girls’ basketball coach position. She would come home and talk about games, strategy and practice. One day she asked if I wanted to come and help with installing a press and post move work and I was hooked. She eventually stepped down from the position for us to start our family and after thinking about it for a while we decided I should apply. I was fortunate to be hired as her successor and the rest is history.
Q. What is your favorite sports memory? A. High School triple overtime game vs our rival, we ended up hitting 3 last second shots to put it into each over time period and won the game.
Q. What is your favorite quote? A. Don’t wait for opportunity, create it!
Q. Who is your most memorable coach and why? A. My high school soccer coach Pastor Haag. He always had high expectations for our team, and coached with intensity and passion. He taught us more than a game and was a great leader.
Q. Who is your favorite athlete? A. Kevin Garnett - former NBA player
Q. Describe yourself in one word. A. Passionate
Q. Where did you grow up? A. Ripon, WI
Q. What High School did you go to? A. WLA (Fond du Lac)
Q. What sports did you play? A. soccer/football/basketball/golf

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Joe Robinson, Director | Hello! 👋🏻 I'm Joe Robinson, and I'm excited to serve as the new Director for the Brookfield Central Girls Basketball Junior Lancer program. 😊 I can't wait to collaborate with the varsity program, Board, coaches, and families to lead a highly positive, instructional, and FUN basketball experience. I've served as a teacher, building administrator, and district administrator in public education, so I'm working to bring the best aspects of engagement, feedback, and personal connections to being part of a family-like basketball program. My wife, Elizabeth coached in the program, my daughter Annie plays in the program, my daughter Calista will play in the program this season, and my sons Zac and Charlie will be providing constant distraction and disruption everywhere you see us. 😆 Please connect with me to suggest ideas, air grievances, or talk hoops. 🙌🏻 🏀 📲224.230.8520 | [email protected]
Amanda Harney, Assistant Director | I'm Amanda Harney and this is my 1st year on the Board. I’m honored for the opportunity to serve in this capacity, and am excited to continue the efforts of building an excellent program for our budding lady Lancers. I have a current 6th grader (Eliana) who loves playing basketball, and a husband (Josh) who had a blast coaching her and her teammates this past season. In addition to hoops, most recently we’ve enjoyed spending more time with family and friends, and exploring our new-ish home state—especially sampling the cheese curds & custard. Hello Wisconsin 😃 & hello Jr. Lancer families!
Heather Miller, Secretary | Hello! I am excited to serve as the new Secretary. As a Brookfield Central graduate, we won’t say what year, I am thrilled about all the new opportunities to develop young athletes in our community! I have twins, Adelyn and Mason who both participate in the Jr. Lancer basketball programs. My husband, Jeff, is one of the coaches for Mason’s team. Looking forward to updating the uniforms and helping to grow the program!
John Schnabl, Treasurer | Hello, my name is John Schnabl, and I am once again serving as the Treasurer of Jr Lancer Program. My daughter Molly is in the program and will be in 8th grade this year and I'm also an assistant coach for her team. In addition, I have a freshman daughter at UW Eau Claire and a soon to be Freshman son at UW Whitewater. I also serve as the President of the BC Booster Club.
